About this site

Welcome to HistoryOfAudio.com. Our vision is to build a place for audio professionals and enthusiasts to find information about the people, inventions, and ideas that came together to bring us to where we are now.

This site is managed by Scott Burgess, and takes its inspiration from Arts & Letters Daily. Our objective is to gather together some of the many excellent resources on the internet pertaining to the history of sound recording and reproduction.

Scott would like to give a special acknowledgement to Lou Manno of the Audio History Library and Museum. A conversation between Scott and Lou on a bus at an Audio Engineering Society conference started Scott on the path to returning to school for graduate studies in history, which in turn led to the creation of this site.
