When I opened the package from Sylvia Massey’s Oddio Shop this week, I was amazed at the heft of this volume. Bob Paquette’s The History & Evolution of the Microphone is as ambitious as it sounds. Over 800 pages of articles, photos, historical documents, and more, covering everything from “the first attempts to convert acoustic energy to electric energy , to the microphones produced around 1960.” I’m not sure what I’ll have to move out of the way, but this signed copy will have an honored place on my bookshelf!
